Widgets have become another form of advertising and entertainment. These small applications when placed on websites and blogs provide owners opportunities to earn money specifically as a form of advertising. With the wide options for widget choice, there is bound to be something for every site.

Earning is made possible in the course of the usual route of page views and clicks through a site. The requirements are very basic – a website or blog and a PayPal account. With these two requirements in place, website owners can now concentrate on choosing the best applicable widget to place in relation to the nature of the site.

Not all widgets will fit a site, not only because of the sheer number of options but because of their relevance. Besides, who would want their site to be so riddled with ads that it turns off readers? Site owners should make sure to place the widgets where they are most likely to be clicked by viewers. As they go along, they will discover which ones actually work and which don’t. Those that don’t work can be removed and replaced by more suitable options.

There is a choice of making use of widgets developed by others or making one’s own. Widget developers will need to have a widget editor, a widget converter, a text editor, and an image editor. A plain text editor can be used to write the widget code. A simpler application is better. Knowledge of HTML, XML, JavaScript, and Applescript will be needed to write the code.

Widgets should be developed to run on various computer platforms to enable access to more users. Widget developers can choose to share their widget once it is uploaded in their website. They can make it available to others by submitting it to an online widget gallery in the same manner that they can have access to others. The main point is to use widgets that can make money for the site.

As the end of the year draws near, many will be activating once again their New Year Countdown widgets to remind them of the number of days, hours, minutes, and seconds before the much-awaited event happens. Countdown widgets are fun to use for other events and occasions as well such as birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, childbirth, and other similar milestones in life. It can also be an exciting way to wait for a work-related event, the release of a book, the launching of a product, or the opening of a movie sequel.

More than a way of reminding people of the things to come, countdown widgets provide visual enhancement to make the waiting more pleasurable. Placement of widgets should be done selectively though since too much can prove to be too distracting for productive computer use. The widget takes very little memory space and can be easily installed and removed when maintaining them is no longer necessary.

WordPress offers countdown widgets that are customizable as to appearance, font size, style, and color. They can be placed anywhere on the blog or site and are able to work virtually. Readers can also keep track and understand past important events followed by the site owner or blogger through an applicable link that leads to a separate page.

There are a lot of interesting countdown widgets being offered such as the Friday Countdown, The Euro 2012 Countdown, The Olympic Countdown, The Election 2012 Countdown, and the End of the World Countdown. The last mentioned widget is in direct reference to the doomsday prediction which is supposed to happen on December 12, 2012. Other countdown widgets are very specific for national holidays and games release.

The chat box is an essential tool that adds the exotic features to your website. It gives the facility of voice chatting to the readers so that they can exchange their views and ideas directly to you. It further provides the facility of chatting between the two persons that are reading your blog or visiting your site at the same time. It can be treated as the petite chat room that can be directly coded in to the website code. The availability of chat box promotes the sense of communication on the website that is why, it is the most powerful method of communication that you can made with your site visitors and it is much effective as compared to the normal comments. Nevertheless, these chat-boxes are much helpful because here you can talk with the visitor that can be your future customer if you would impress him by your talk.

The use of chat box is quite new to those persons that are now showing the interest to increase the number of readers to their sites. The embedding of a chat box is quite simple only when you are much aware from the use of HTML code. Nevertheless, if you do not know that how can a chat box be embedded on the site code, no need to worry as I am going to tell you the steps that can help you in it:-

1. The very first thing that you have to do is select the chat widget service that can be used for the commercial purpose or for the personal purpose.

2. After registering the service you have to create the chat box that includes the choice of colors, features etc. It can be according to your choice and need.

3. Now the third step is that copy the chat box code to your clipboard. After that copy the HTML file on the notepad and here you can create the column code for your chat box.

4. The fourth step is that upload all the HTML files on the pop-up menu of the chat box that is being embedded on your website server.

5. The last step is that ensure that the entire features that you have created on your chat box are working in an order or not. If, in a case any defect occurs then immediately repeat all the steps and try to search out the interrupted point.

6. Along with the chat-box, you can add some other features just like signing up in the Facebook, arrangement of the previous chat. These all things bring the excitements to your chat box.

The other thing that should be consider is that if you are using some content managing themes or system such like the WordPress then before creating the chat box, have a look on it as it may be possible that a direct plug-in is there, which can help you in creating the chat box quite easily. Therefore, adding the chat box is the best idea from all the way.

Robin Frandrich loves incorporating technology into her blog sites. Unfortunately, the economy doesn’t always support making money via the web, and she’s sometimes short on cash to pay her essential bills – like the electric or water. During these times she knows she can turn to Mobiloans for help getting out of her emergency financial ruts.

Whether it is for the purpose of providing a fun experience in one’s site or enhancing personal productivity while using the computer, widgets can make it happen by managing them effectively. A site owner manages best if he/she knows the site’s ultimate goal. Unless the reason for being is clear, random and poorly chosen widgets may unnecessarily clutter the site to its own detriment.

Every site would like to be identified with something concrete and recognized. Widgets can personalize the feel while creating an association with excellence and reliability depending on the choice. If a site or blog owner is unsure of what widgets to pick, widget galleries can provide clues pointing to the right direction. A gallery of widgets offers a wide range of choices organized by category to make the search easier.

The main concern in getting a widget for use in on’s blog or social networking profile is the installation which widget sites typically provide support for. Everything else that follows is relatively easy. The most important thing to accomplish is to copy the code and determine where it is to be placed.

A widget that cannot be found is of no use to anyone. Instead of providing greater utility and excitement, frustration results in knowing that it is there but cannot be used. The essential thing to remember is that success does not lie in having the most number of widgets but in having the ones that are useful to the site.

A widget manager can be used like a standard dock bar with some additional features. Widgets can be rearranged by simple dragging and dropping while titles can be displayed below the icons. Anything that allows for a simple and easy way to manage widgets is a welcome addition since that is the way additional features should be – easy and simple.

Computer users are always on the look-out for better applications that are not only fun and easy to use but actually work as well. One of the better computer applications to come along is the widget. Widgets are stand-alone applications that can be embedded on sites authored by a user such as a webpage or a blog. They are also being commonly used in social media site profiles.

Essentially chunks of code installed for the purpose of sharing content, widgets may or may not have implications on a site’s performance depending on the widget type. Users who opt for widgets typically desire an enhanced web experience both for themselves and their site visitors. Widget developers on the other hand, hope to offer a win-win situation where the cost of development gets paid as multiple users accomplish their own objectives through the help of the widgets.

Widgets work best for a site where it is considered relevant such as a Destination Locator Widget for a Travel Site. Many widget owners have found a way to explore the functionality of seemingly unrelated widgets for their personal use and surprisingly ended up with favorable results. The basic rule here is to find widgets that complement your site in the absence of obvious similarities of purpose.

For maximized use, site owners or bloggers should take into account SEO concerns. At this time and age where everything is put in place for a purpose, it wouldn’t hurt to harness the full potentials of a computer application. The widget developer generally has full control over the application although there are services available which allow customization to better fit the purpose of the user. The next time you see those visually-attractive widgets that appear to work perfectly on others, stop and consider what makes it work for them and develop your options for your own site.

Any businesses which make use of online marketing strategies make every effort to perk up their conversion rate. There are many different ways to boost up the targeted traffic in a website and to convert the visitors into the potential clientele. Some web masters prefer getting good rankings on Google whereas some prefer getting high position in Alexa ranking system.

Alexa is not a new term for the webmasters : almost every webmaster is familiar with this term and its benefits. Alexa is a web information company maintaining the traffic rankings for the websites. Alexa is also one of the best resources to boost up the value of the ad spots and to verify the popularity of our website.

The webmasters usually do anything to boost the traffic and the website rankings. They keep on looking for some or the other way to increase their traffic and most of the webmasters are using the Alexa widget for this. The Aalexa widget when installed in a website displays all the traffic statistics on your website. Alex widget is considered as the best widget to keep an account of your visitors and the page views.

If you ask any webmaster about the Alexa widget, you will get only one answer that placing the Alexa widget increases the website ranking considerably. But I am on opposite side and completely disagree with this answer. According to me placing the Alexa widget makes no difference in the ranking of your website.

I am not saying this out of the blue; I used the Alexa widget in my website for several days and then removed it when saw no difference in my website rankings. I also noticed that the Java Code of the Alexa widget is not getting any information about the country of the visitor and other necessary information.

One more myth running with Alexa is that installing the Alexa toolbar is very helpful in improving the Alexa ranking. It sends the information to Alexa about your surfing habits. There is a misconception that this data sent to Alexa by you and your visitors helps in increasing the Alexa ranking of the website.

What I feel in this context is that Alexa is not accurate. Everyone does not have an Alexa toolbar as not everyone is willing to give their surfing habits to Alexa. I am one of them and I never like the idea of anyone monitoring me or my surfing habits. It is something very personal and I would never like to share it with anyone, not even Alexa.

According to my calculation Alexa incorporate only 10% of the total visitors as I feel that only 10% of the visitors have the Alexa toolbar installed on their system.

1. Alexa Widget Could bring Bad for Your Website

I personally never want to install the Alexa widget in my website and this is due to my bad experience with Alexa widget. The biggest problem with the Alexa widget is that it is often unavailable.

If you have installed the Alexa widget on your website, you will notice that when it is unavailable, the page containing the widget loads very slowly, which if no ways good for your website. However there are some solutions to this problem too but not everybody know about them. I am mentioning those solutions here for you if you still want to install the Alexa widget in your website.

To avoid such problems to some extent you can use it at the bottom of your pages. This may bring you the benefits and help to steer clear from the negative aspects of the Alexa widget related to its unavailability. End of the source code is the best place to paste it. Though it might not be the exact position you want it to be but it is the only way I found out.

The best solution still according to me is to not use the widget.

2. Check for the other widgets as well

It is not all about the Alexa widget, there are many other third party applications and widgets which show the similar problems. Such widgets can slow down the success of your website, thus be very careful while installing any third party widget in your website.

I know many leading websites which came down just because of the external applications used. Limit the usage of external applications and widgets to make your website run faster.

Andrew, a great blogger and social enthusiast who love to interact with new people on various topics. While he is not working you will find him searching temp staffing service on the Internet, playing with her beautiful daughters and cooking in his free time.

Do you have a blog about pets? Or maybe you have another kind of blog but you love pets. If this is the case, then you might want to take a look at a widget that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has created for pet health and safety. Aptly (if not creatively) named the Pet Health & Safety Widget, the tool provides information for both the blog or web site owner and the readers. The information comes from the Center for Veterinary Medicine, so you know it’s legit and reliable.

From what I see in the FDA web site, the widget is pretty enough. It is narrow – the width of a small side bar – and long, perhaps a little more than 2 inches long. The code is provided, but it doesn’t seem as if there is a user interface to tweak the parameters of the widget. You can try to change the values for height and width, though – I think that will work.

The widget is mainly color blue, with various shades thrown in. There are two tabs – TIPS and UPDATES. There is also a small image which takes up most of the space of the widget, and there is a title (presumably for the article) at the bottom of the image. You can scroll left or right for more tips. I tried it out and there are only two topics available – purchasing pet drugs online and how to report pet food complaints. As to the frequency of updating, I have no idea.

Give it a try, grab the code from the FDA web site.

I am not the type to check the time every 15 minutes, but I do hate it when people never keep track of time. I am sure you know a lot of these people. They would tell you they’ll meet you at a certain hour and come an hour late. Or they would say that they would be home at a certain time, and arrive much much later. The usual excuse is “Oh, sorry I forgot the time!”

If you have the tendency to be like this, even at work, then here are widgets that will make keeping track of the time a much more fun experience. Clock Widgets is a web site that specializes in – you got it – clocks of all sorts and sizes. The widgets are specially designed to keep the user entertained while at the same time, keeping functionality a top priority. These widgets can be embedded in your blog or any other web site for that matter.

They have a variety of designs, many of them “cute.” One of my favorites is the Donut & Candy clock widget – no need to explain what it looks like. You can take a look for yourself here. Another nice looking “time piece” is the Blue Diamond, which is very simple yet will match a site with a blue theme. The former widget is analog while the latter is digital. One wish I have with regard to the site is the number of widgets that they offer – maybe they can come up with more clocks in the future!
